According to Team Leader Nguyen Nhuan Binh, the teams started clearing this contaminated area after the Lunar New Year holiday in late January. This is the largest number of explosive ordnances found on a single working day by NPA/RENEW teams so far in 2023.

NPA/RENEW expects to complete this clearance site in May 2023. The safe land will benefit 398 people living in An My Village, and the land will be used to expand their fish ponds and vegetable farming.

Earlier, NPA/RENEW had officially handed over 130 hectares of land cleared of explosive ordnance to the authorities of Gio My Commune and local people for normal use and further development.

We thank the U.S. government for the great support of ongoing efforts to survey and clear explosive ordnance in Quang Tri Province.
