Project RENEW today officially launched “Safe Steps, Safe Life”, a vibrant and meaningful music video that delivers a powerful message about the continuing threat of explosive remnants of war. The MV emphasizes the importance of safety in communities, especially among children and young people.
The premiere took place at the Mine Action Visitor Center in Nam Dong Ha Ward, drawing nearly 100 participants – including students, parents, teachers, and local Youth Union officers. The enthusiastic turnout reflects a growing need for innovative, youth-friendly approaches to mine risk education in communities still impacted by legacy contamination.

Students, parents, and local officials gather at the Mine Action Visitor Center for the premiere of “Safe Steps, Safe Life” — launching a creative communications campaign to prevent accidents from unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Quang Tri.

The production team from Project RENEW and PID Agency — including cast members featured in the MV — join the audience for a lively post-screening exchange, sharing stories and insights from the creative process.
The event also welcomed representatives from the Quang Tri Mine Action Center (QTMAC), one of Project RENEW’s key partners in developing innovative communications that blend data visualization and music to better engage the public. Commune-level Youth Union officers – who have stood alongside RENEW for the past 24 years – were also present, reaffirming their support and commitment to the next generation.
The music video is the result of close collaboration between Project RENEW and a team of young creatives from PID Agency, with financial support from the Government of Ireland through the Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam.
“This is more than just a music video – it carries a mission,” said RENEW Coordination Manager Nguyen Hieu Trung. “It’s a tool to help communities, especially children, better understand the dangers of unexploded ordnance and learn how to stay safe.”

Students from Cua Tung Commune bring the message to life with a spirited acoustic performance of “Safe Steps, Safe Life” — adding energy, warmth, and authenticity to the event.
Project RENEW hopes “Safe Steps, Safe Life” will reach far beyond Quang Tri – inspiring young people across Vietnam to stay alert, stay safe, and walk confidently into the future.
Nguyen Thanh Phu, Manager of the Visitor Center and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Program Officer at RENEW, noted:
“Looking ahead, we will continue to develop interactive learning tools using Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to enhance risk education for children aged 6 to 17, not only in Quang Tri but also in other provinces still affected by explosive remnants of war.”

Behind the scenes of “Safe Steps”: young creatives from PID Agency work closely with students throughout filming — bringing warmth, energy, and authenticity to a media product that speaks to today’s youth.
