Quang Ninh, Quang Binh (April 7–8, 2025) – Project RENEW’s Prosthetics and Orthotics (P&O) Mobile Outreach Program delivered transformative services to persons with disabilities in Quang Ninh District during a two-day mission in Quang Binh Province.
In partnership with the district’s Health Department, our team provided free screenings, assessments, and fittings for prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, and handcycles, reaching individuals across 15 communes—including survivors of unexploded ordnance (UXO) from the Vietnam War.
For over two decades, Project RENEW has worked to make Vietnam safe and support those affected by war legacies. This outreach served 59 people, including Mr. Pham Van Thang, a UXO survivor from Duy Ninh Commune. The 61-year-old father of two had his stump assessed and molded for a new prosthetic leg to replace his worn-out one. “Thanks to RENEW, I can now help my family and join community activities,” he said.

Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuyet from Duy Ninh Commune, a mother of four disabled by an electrical accident in 2022, attended with her husband’s support. She hopes her new prosthetic will ease her family’s burden following the life-altering incident.

Our dedicated staff measured stumps and crafted molds for custom prosthetics, with plans to return in two weeks for trial fittings. This initiative underscores our commitment to empowering individuals, restoring mobility, and enhancing quality of life in Vietnam’s rural communities.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to the Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam for their generous support, making this outreach possible. Together, we’re building a safer, stronger future—one step at a time.
