Dong Ha, Quang Tri (10 October 2021) — 12 staff members of RENEW/NPA today voluntarily donated blood in the first blood donation campaign of 2021 organized by Quang Tri Province Confederation of Labour in coordination with Quang Tri Province General Hospital.

In response to the “Donate Safe Blood, Join Hands to Defeat Covid-19” program of the government of Quang Tri Province,  the participating blood donors from RENEW/NPA expect that their 3,000ml of donated blood today will contribute to addressing the shortage of blood in emergency and treatment of patients in the context of Quang Tri Province has control and prevention of Covid-19.   

“Your blood is more helpful than your words and you always have a precious resource to give no matter who you are,” said Mr. Pham Huu Hoan, a technical survey team leader at RENEW/NPA said. “As deminers who work to make the community safe from unexploded ordnance, we are proud of donating our blood to double the chance of living for patients in need of blood transfusion.”

Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Hien, Standing Committee of Quang Tri Public Sector Union member, appreciated the positive participation of the staff members of RENEW/NPA. “They are responsible and enthusiast volunteers who have complied seriously with the Covid-19 prevention guidelines during the donation process,” Ms. Hien said. “Today is Sunday, however, together with 55 volunteers from other organizations they have attended fully.”


Project RENEW was established in 2001 as a joint effort between the government of Quang Tri Province and interested INGOs to “restore the environment and neutralize the effects of the war”. RENEW is the only comprehensive mine action organization in Vietnam that integrates survey and clearance, risk education, and victim assistance into a coordinated program of action

Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a politically independent membership-based organization working in Norway and more than 30 countries worldwide. NPA’s international work covers three core areas: Mine Action and disarmament, Development and Humanitarian relief aid. NPA has worked in Vietnam since 2007 and collaborated with national and provincial authorities to implement capacity development, survey, and clearance projects in Hanoi, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Binh provinces.
