<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Mai Van Viet currently manages the NPA/RENEW clearance program operations in Quang Tri Province. He takes great pride in his involvement in humanitarian mine action. Previously, he served in the military, where he received training in explosives and ordnance. After completing his service, he returned to his hometown and was recruited by Project RENEW. The experience Viet gained in the military has significantly contributed to his career today.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With practical experience and having held various positions, Viet has a good understanding of the work his staff is doing. He always shares his personal experiences and motivates his team to fulfill the responsibilities assigned by the organization. Viet is certified as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level III technician according to International Mine Action Standards by Norwegian People&#8217;s Aid Vietnam.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Apart from work, Viet has several passions and hobbies. In his free time, he enjoys playing badminton and football.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang</strong> has been with Project RENEW since 2012, bringing with her twelve years of extensive experience in the field of mine action. As the Provincial Programme Manager, she is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring all activities under the NPA/RENEW explosive ordnance clearance program. Throughout her career, Trang has advanced from support staff to her current leadership position, demonstrating her dedication and expertise in the field. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Trang holds a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in International Economic Relations and has completed the Mine Action Manager Course provided by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). Her academic qualifications, combined with specialized training, equip her with the knowledge and skills to effectively lead mine action initiatives, contributing to the safety and welfare of communities impacted by unexploded ordnance.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Beyond her professional commitments, Trang finds solace and balance in moments of quiet reflection, often enjoying a cup of coffee and arranging flowers.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Phu Nguyen Thanh</strong> is the manager of the Mine Action Visitor Center, responsible for welcoming Vietnamese and foreign travelers and visitors and briefing them about the history of war, the story of loss, resilience and recovery. Phu explains the continuing threat, and current efforts by the Vietnamese government and military, and international NGOs, to address the problem of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) in Quang Tri Province straddling the former DMZ. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Phu is also in charge of Project RENEW’s Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Program which provides life-saving UXO awareness, safe behavior guidance for vulnerable groups of boys, girls, men and women who have to continue living with everyday danger imposed by UXO in Quang Tri Province and Quang Ngai province, home to the infamous My Lai massacre during the war.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Phu has attended several professional training courses and workshops on project management, gender and diversity, child rights, governance, etc. in Vietnam and abroad. Before joining Project RENEW in July 2010, Phu worked as a professional licensed English-speaking tour guide for four years. In this role, Phu had widened his knowledge of former battlefields, areas of military operations, and other historical sites in and around the former DMZ. He holds a B.A degree in English.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Apart from work, he loves challenging himself and discovering hilly, bumpy yet scenic roads by bike and with running shoes. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dang Quang Toan holds the position of Victim Assistance/Disability Support Program Manager at Project RENEW. In this role, he is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating victim assistance and disability support activities. Recognizing the daily challenges that families of disabled persons and war victim have to face, Toan is always active in seeking opportunities and identify potential funding with the hope of acquiring more support to ease the burden of disabled families, empowering them to develop/self-care and integrate into community.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Toan joined Project RENEW from 2004 as a Coordination Assistant. From 2006, Toan became Victim Assistance/Disability Support Officer. He has assumed the position of manager of Victim Assistance/Disability Support Program, one of the key mine action pillars of Project RENEW, since 2008. In addition, Toan was an authorized representative of Tromsø Mine Victim Resource Center, Norway in the period 2011-2013.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Toan holds a Master degree in Public Administration issued by the National Academy of Public Administration and a Bachelor degree in English studies from the University of Quy Nhon. He has attended numerous short-term courses in Monitoring and Evaluation, Financial Management, Project Design, Planning &#8211; Strategy, Governance, Leadership &amp; Management and Fundraising.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Out of work, Toan loves music and nature. He spends most of his time looking after plants and repairing daily household tools and equipment.</p>
